Produced in the Swiss canton of Bern, this single malt whisky is triple distilled from 100 percent unsmoked barley malt and fermented with a select stout yeast from England. Six years of aging in old sherry and Chardonnay casks give it complex fruit and cinnamon notes and an elegant finish in addition to its malty flavor.
in 1860, master brewer Jak ob Baumberger founded the "Langatun" brewery and distillery in Langenthal, Switzerland. Langatun, as the Celtic name for Langenthal, is intended to emphasize the genesis of the noble whiskey products. The descendants of the founder continued his distilling traditions and created premium spirits of the highest quality, such as Old Deer, the distillery's classic.
Triple distillation gives the single malt an incomparably soft and delicate malty barley note. This combines with strong fruity-spicy aromas of apple, sweet red berries and cinnamon, which the Old Deer takes on due to the long storage in the wine casks. These fresh fruits are joined by vanilla and raisins, while a hint of oak lingers in the background of these tremendously lovely sherry notes.
The sherry and Chardonnay barrels help the Old Deer achieve, in addition to its unusual fruity complexity, a long elegant finish that is subtle but incredibly fruity and peppery.
Langatun Old Deer Single Malt Whisky Classic is best enjoyed neat or over ice. You can purchase it in a half-liter bottle with an alcohol volume percentage of 40 in a clear design emphasizing the landscape and closeness to nature
